Q: Is Manny Mota the Baseball player? A: Yes. The name Manny Mota is synonymous with Dodger baseball since his arrival to the Los Angeles sports community in 1969. Manny is one of the most popular players ever to wear Dodger blue. Upon his retirement in 1980, he left holding the major league record career pinch hits with 150 and a lifetime batting average of 304. Manny joined the Dodger coaching staff after his playing retirement where he continues his responsibilities to this day.
Q: What does the Manny Mota International Foundation do? A: It was recognizing that baseball made his "dreams come true" that he and his wife, Margarita, started the Manny Mota International Foundation to assist the less fortunate in their homeland of the Dominican Republic. The foundation has many programs, including a daily breakfast for more than 250 children, pre-natal care to expectant mothers and an annual toy-give-away. In 1992, Manny and Margarita expanded this work to include the Greater Los Angeles community. Programs they have created to serve the community include: Baseball clinics, health fairs, scholarships for youth, and food drives to name a few.
Q: Do you help only the kids in the Dominican Republic? A: Since the foundation was started in the Dominican Republic over 30 years ago, many programs have been in place there for many years now, however, since 1992 the foundation also offers programs in the Greater Los Angeles area such as community baseball clinics, scholarships, little league equipment donations, etc.
Q: When was the foundation established? A: It was established in 1967 in the Dominican Republic with very moderate resources as a means of providing assistance to the disadvantaged youth and their families in the Dominican Republic.

Q: What are the Manny Mota Baseball Clinics? A: Baseball gave Manny Mota many gifts, they were gifts of confidence, perseverance, imagination, hope and that "dreams can come true." It was a desire to share these gifts to the youth of Los Angeles that led to the creation of the Manny Mota Baseball Clinics. These clinincs use baseball as a medium to encourage boys and girls to develop their own gifts in a meaningful and enriching way. Featuring former and current Dodger players, the clinics teach baseball skills along with instilling confidence and hope. The goal is to encourage the youth to turn to education and sports as an alternative to the lifestyles often prevalent in the communities served.
